MacKay takes Gary Mercer Trucking 150 at SoBo

SOUTH BOSTON: Ronnie MacKay was in the right spot at the right time.

MacKay was third behind leader Kevin Savoury and Steven Matthews when the two came together late in the Gary Mercer Trucking 150 at South Boston, and held off Jake Goodwin for the win. Keith Mac was third.

Points leader Ricky Arbeau was also collected in the Savoury-Matthews wreck late in the race; but he finished the race with a tore up race car, coming home seventh. Just four of the 24 cars that started finished on the lead lap.

Even MacKay had damage from earlier contact in the race.

“It was a great race, we’re just lucky to get by that last wreck,” said MacKay.

The Maritime iRacing League (MIRL) will now head to Oxford Plains for their second to last race of the year on ETV; 8 pm Atlantic.
